Medicare Advantage makes a real difference in people’s lives

As a home health aide working in Brooklyn with over a decade of experience, I have spent my career caring for people in the community, especially seniors. My job is to make sure that they have the support they need to get and stay healthy, and it is deeply personal and rewarding to me. What I have observed is that seniors on Medicare Advantage, in particular, have better access to quality care, leading to improved health outcomes.

The coverage they receive from Medicare Advantage is truly comprehensive. In addition to a large network of providers and coordinated care to manage all their health needs, they receive supplemental benefits like vision, dental, and hearing, prescription drug coverage, and wellness programs.

This takes a holistic approach to health care, and it is clear that seniors are happier and healthier because of it. However, financial peace of mind is equally critical. When health complications occur, seniors have financial peace of mind knowing that out-of-pocket expenses are capped, making necessary care affordable.

One of the joys of being a home health aide is seeing the people you care for thrive. Medicare Advantage is making a real difference in people’s lives. With proposed changes to the program, including cuts, I want to remind our leaders of just how crucial Medicare Advantage is for many seniors in Brooklyn and across the state. By working to fully fund the program, we can ensure they are supported and stay healthy.
